Dutch Institute of Clinical Auditing

On June 12th 2015 Professor Lodge will travel to Amsterdam as a guest of the Dutch Institute of Clinical Auditing to speak at their prestigious conference about the value of liver surgery for metastases from colorectal cancer.  Prof Lodge’s team in Leeds have been the first to compare costs of innovative liver surgery techniques with standard chemotherapy and they have demonstrated a clear advantage with surgery in terms of cost saving for the NHS and also improved outcomes for patients. The Netherlands Health Service has asked to discuss these important findings with Prof Lodge so he can help them draw up guidelines for treatment.  This is not a first for Prof Lodge – last year he spent time in Sweden advising the Swedish Liver Surgeons Cooperative on how to effectively treat bile duct cancers, to help them develop guidelines for the Swedish Heath Service.
